I am sooo proud of this gal. She is among those being recognized this year by WISE Women of Blair County. The acronym is for Women Involved in Scholarship and Empowerment, and Janet certainly is. For going on 15 years as our public library director, she has strengthened and expanded a key educational resource. Building on her previous career as a bookstore executive, she has provided a model of professional accomplishment and conduct for women of all ages, as well as men. Now, as the face of This is RED, she is using her own disability to inspire.
Before all of this, she is a treasure as a wife and mother. How blessed I am to share her life, and what fun it was to shoot her in the salon and studio for this video. I love how the picture brings out the green in her eyes.
By the way, didja notice she’s wearing RED?
It doesn’t get more RED or relevant than this. This article notes that dementia patients sometimes fail to eat because they don’t perceive food that blends in with the plate, so contrast helps, especially RED plates.
Spotting a landmark on a spring day brought back part of a memory to Janet. I supplied the rest.
